On Thursday, May 15, the Hall at Sacré Cœur came alive with stories, insight and shared experiences as 25 alumnae returned for the annual Careers Breakfast. Students from Years 10, 11 and 12 were invited to connect with past students and hear firsthand what life looks like beyond the school gates.
From law, medicine and media to design, engineering and business, the event gave students the opportunity to explore a wide range of industries by speaking directly with alumnae who once walked the same corridors. In small table groups, students asked thoughtful questions, discovered new pathways and heard first-hand what life looks like after Sacré Cœur. Whether sharing the steps that led to their current roles or reflecting on the challenges they faced along the way, each alumnae offered invaluable insights to help students navigate their own next steps.
At the heart of this event is a powerful sense of community. For current students, meeting alumnae face to face offered something far deeper than career advice. These conversations ignited curiosity, sparked ambition and reminded students that their futures are full of possibility.
“This event is a way for our alumnae to give back to the school community,” said our Principal Adelina Melia-Douvos. “Many of them are now working in roles that didn’t exist when they were students. Their stories open our students’ eyes to a wide range of future possibilities.”
Held at a time when senior students are navigating subject selection, exams and future planning, the Careers Breakfast offered encouragement and clarity. It reminded students that career journeys can be non-linear, and that passion, purpose and adaptability are just as important as planning.
More than just a careers event, the morning served as a powerful reminder of the deep connections that define Sacré Cœur. The Careers Breakfast reflects the strength of our ongoing relationship with alumnae and the sense of community that is at the heart of our school. Rooted in the Sacred Heart tradition, Sacré Cœur places a strong emphasis on faith, learning, community and personal growth, values that continue to unite past and present students.
Our tailored approach to education recognises that each girl’s learning journey is unique. Our staff are specialists in girls’ education and are passionate about supporting students to grow into confident, capable and compassionate young women.
“Our students are courageous, intelligent and kind.” Ms Melia-Douvos said. “We foster an environment where students feel supported to be brave, ask questions and step confidently into their future.”
At Sacré Cœur, we are proud to nurture young women who are intellectually curious, courageous and purpose driven. We provide meaningful opportunities beyond the classroom, like our Careers Breakfast, where students connect with inspiring alumnae and gain valuable insight into life beyond school. Events like these encourage students to embrace challenges, explore their passions and step confidently into their futures, knowing that success can take many forms.
We are sincerely grateful to the alumnae who generously shared their time and wisdom at this year’s Careers Breakfast. Their presence and stories left a lasting impression and served as a powerful reminder of the enduring Sacré Cœur spirit. Once you are part of this community, you are always part of it.
