Sacré Cœur was honoured to welcome back the Honorable Member for Chisholm, Dr Carina Garland, a proud alumna from the Class of 2000 and former school prefect. Dr Garland returned to speak with our Year 11 students, sharing insights into her inspiring journey from her formative years at Sacré Cœur to a career dedicated to community service and federal politics.
Her visit was a powerful reminder of the values instilled at Sacré Cœur and the meaningful paths our students can pursue. Dr Garland spoke passionately about the importance of education, healthcare, and justice in shaping a fairer and more inclusive society, encouraging students to think deeply about their own potential to contribute to the world.
Moments like these underscore the vital importance of nurturing and celebrating our alumnae connections. Our alumnae are living examples of the impact a Sacré Cœur education can have, and their stories offer current students a tangible link between their school experience and the broader world beyond. By continuing to build and strengthen these relationships, we not only honour the achievements of our graduates but also create a vibrant, intergenerational community rooted in shared values, inspiration, and support.
Maintaining strong ties with our alumnae enriches the life of the school, fosters mentorship opportunities, and reinforces the enduring legacy of Sacré Cœur. We are deeply grateful to Dr Garland for her time, wisdom, and generosity in returning to share her journey.
