Year 9

Self Discovery

The heart of Year 9 is "discovery".

The students choose from a wide range of elective subjects as diverse as "Game On" where girls learn to make movies using the cutting edge "Machinima"  to the study of the ancient language of Latin. Students are able to select six elective choices for the year as well as continuing the study of subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, Religious Education, Health and Physical Education as their core.

Year 9 also offers the girls practical, collaborative and outward looking projects which include the Duke of Edinburgh Award undertaken by all students. A curriculum based project catering for the student's particular interest is also undertaken by all girls. This curriculum project is planned, worked on, and presented over a number of sessions, working in small groups with students from St Kevin's College, Toorak.

Girls also enjoy a comprehensive outdoor education program allowing them to discover the challenge of rock climbing, golf, bushwalking and many more equally engaging activities. The applications of these practical skills to enhance learning are carefully linked by our Year 9 staff through the pastoral program and the traditional classroom. The pastoral program at Year 9 has a particular emphasis on community, partnerships and service.
