Year 8

Exploring Melbourne!

Citycite, an urban educational experience, is the heart of Year 8 learning.

Citycite offers the students, independence, team work, challenge and self discovery and sits in the middle of the Year 8 curriculum. All subject areas, English, Maths, Science, French, Japanese, History and Geography have the Citycite experience as the focus for their curriculum delivery. Year 8 teachers across all areas of the curriculum prepare the girls carefully in different ways of thinking.

After the Citycite experience the skills developed are applied back in the classroom setting. Girls are challenged to think independently and "outside the square" with every Year 8 student undertaking Robotics as their Information Technology study. Art, Drama and Music are catered for in the classroom and through choir, ensembles and an annual production with St Kevin's College, Toorak.

Outdoor education plays an important role in developing independence, building team work, perseverance and resilience. The Year 8 Outdoor education program culminates in an "outward bound style" camp at Iluka at Shoreham on the Mornington Peninsula. The Year 8 Pastoral Program ensures our girls are prepared in the best possible way to embrace different ways of thinking and learning.
