Years 5 and 6

Senior primary years

Senior Primary students are encouraged to develop independence in their learning and a strong sense of self through leadership and personal growth programs, thus preparing them for the transition to the Senior School. Involvement in social justice activities provides opportunities for these students to embrace local community and global issues.

Building on the core subjects of literacy and numeracy, Year 5 and 6 students are involved in debating, robotics, leadership and Tournament of the Minds and other enriching activities.

Throughout the Junior School learning activities in all subjects are planned to be sequential. Additional extra-curricular activities are introduced at each year level to provide enrichment and challenge.

The students are extended and enriched through specialist lessons in Art, French, Physical Education, Library and Music. A wide range of opportunities and clinics are provided through the Physical Education lessons, and students participate in House and Inter School athletics, swimming and diving, cross country and netball. In Music, all Year 5 students study a musical instrument in small groups for the year, participating in various ensembles. In addition, all students are encouraged to participate in Choir, vocal groups, the Music Concert, eisteddfods, the Musical and in accompanying liturgies celebrations.
