Clean Sweep for Sacré Cœur Scientists!

Sacré Cœur science students came first, second and third in the Victorian Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) Chemistry Titration competition.

This is a stunning result for the school and represents the third year in a row that Sacré Cœur has qualified for the nationals, with one team in 2007, two teams in 2008 and four teams representing the School in 2009.

The Chemistry Titration competition is aimed at Years 11 and 12 students and is a combination of practical and theoretical work to find the concentration of a supplied sample of vinegar.

The top ten teams in Victoria go on to compete at the National competition and as a Sacré Cœur team also came eighth, the School will have four teams competing at the Nationals.

Chemistry teacher and Head of Science, John Denmead, is justifiably proud of his students. "This is testament to the outstanding practical and theoretical skills of the girls in chemistry and illustrates a deep respect for intellectual values which is one of the school's goals."
